Important Update: DDI Closing at the End of 2024

After 15 years of dedicated service, Disabled Divers International (DDI) will officially close on December 31, 2024. This difficult decision comes after careful consideration and recognition of the challenges our organization has faced in recent years, particularly due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Since 2010, DDI has worked to make scuba diving accessible to people with disabilities by developing specialized training standards. We created high-quality training materials, built comprehensive multi-level adaptive diving programs, and set new standards for inclusive diving.

By collaborating with major diver training organizations, we helped raise awareness and improve adaptive diving programs across the industry. Today, many diver training organizations offer programs influenced by DDI’s approach, creating more opportunities for divers with disabilities around the world.

A New Chapter with Diverse Ability

As DDI closes, we’re pleased to introduce Diverse Ability, a non-profit founded in 2023 in Italy in partnership with Divers Alert Network (DAN) Europe. Diverse Ability will continue to support adaptive diving initiatives. For more information, please visit www.diverseability.eu.

Our Heartfelt Thanks

To everyone who has supported DDI’s mission—our members, instructors, partners, volunteers, and divers—we are incredibly grateful. Your dedication and efforts have helped create a more inclusive diving community and made a lasting impact on the lives of divers everywhere.

Thank you for being a part of the DDI community.
