New Disabled Diving Opportunities in Singapore, Kuwait and Thailand

Disabled diving opportunities have been opened up in more countries this year following successful Disabled Divers International Pro Trainings held in Singapore, Kuwait, Malaysia and Phuket, Thailand in April this year.

DDI Director of Training Mark Slingo travelled to each destination and held the Pro Trainings, enabling Divemasters and Instructors to work with disabled divers and also to train three new DDI Instructor Trainers who can offer the DDI Pro Training in their destinations.

The Singapore training was held at the internationally famous Resorts World at Sentosa, training the aquarium dive staff to offer DDI programs and Course Director Alex Walker to be a DDI Instructor Trainer. This is an amazing venue for divers with disabilities with the potential to dive with a wide variety of marine life in the aquarium including sharks and manta rays. The main tank is also certified as an official open water dive site so you can log your dives too. What a location and close to the busy metropolis of Singapore.

New DDI Instructor Trainer Faisal and his dive instructional team at Dive 36 in Kuwait City, Kuwait are now fully equipped to work with divers with disabilities following the Pro Training held there. The team will also be assisting DDI to translate the materials into Arabic and open up DDI programs to the Arabic speaking world.

Prior to the Malaysia International Dive Expo in early May, Mark travelled to Phuket, Thailand where he trained the staff of busy dive centre Aussie Divers to be able to offer disabled diving in world-famous dive destination Phuket. Aussie Divers has two dive centres to choose from, the main training centre in Chalong and the second dive shop in the town of Patong on Phuket island. Wonderful diving and great times on land, await any divers choosing to go and dive with Aussie Divers. Also available now on Phuket is DDI Instructor Training with new DDI Instructor Trainer Claus Rasmussen who completed his DDI Instructor Trainer program with Mark at the Malaysia course held at Sea Monkey Dive Centre in Kuala Lumpur.

On the Kuala Lumpur course was Kyle Robertson who flew in from Melbourne, Australia where he will be leasing with other DDI professionals to offer disabled diver programs for divers Down Under. It is a really exciting time for disabled divers with more and more destinations being opened up.
