DDI Instructor Training program in Australia
The first ever DDI Instructor Training program to be held in Australia was recently completed in Busselton, Western Australia. DDI Instructor trainer Mark Slingo travelled to conduct the course organised by Ebony Young and Alecia Macdonald of The Dive Shed. Along with Ebony and Alecia, dive instructors Jacque Comery, Ash Payne, Kamila Opon and Troy Mayne completed the pro training and added to the growing number of DDI Instructors in Australia.
The participants mainly hailed from WA, with the excpetion of Jacque who came all the way from Canberra in ACT on the east coast of Australia. All candidates have promising plans for promoting diving for the disabled in Australia which we will monitor with interest. The organisation of the DDI instructor course was in conjunction with an initiative to add a disabled lift and full disabled facilities to Busselton's world-famous jetty which is an awesome dive site in its own right. Thanks to Ebony and Alecia for organising the training and Mark for conducting the course. We hope that it is the beginning of a real opening up of Australia's world famous scuba diving destinations for all.
