NBT in Messines with UDiving
On the 24th and 25th of february, in the south of Portugal, the 1st Meeting of Adapted Sports of Casa do Povo de Messines took place.
Daniel Jacó, a young professional in the area of sports for disabled people was the mentor of this meeting and his effort on this event was really magnificent. The Casa do Povo de Messines hosted of the meeting with superior nobleness.
DDI Portugal was invited to participate as a lecturer on the 24th and to run a No Barrier Tour on the 25th. Once again Mateus Mendonça and the team from uDiving DDI Dive Center gave all the support for the No Barrier Tour.
On the first day more than 90 persons, from several areas such as adapted sports, rehabilitation, therapists, orthotics and prosthetics professionals, etc..., had the opportunity to hear very good lectures from the President of the National Federation of Sports for Disabled People, the Chairman of the Paralimpics Comité, the representative of DDI Portugal, and many other individual prelections.
The second day was a very special day. Disabled people from five institutions from all the Algarve had the chance to try several adapted sports. In the morning 33 participants had the opportunity to participate in the No Barrier Tour. In the afternoon everyone had the opportunity to experience a bunch of sports like goalboal and seated voleyball amongst other.
The president of the Casa do Povo de Messines followed the whole event and he is an example of someone that trusted a young man and supported his idea, hosting the event in the facilities of is institution. That's the way we believe that responsible people need to act to make things possible.
For DDI Portugal was a great opportunity to be on this event and promote our programs. Most of all we made people happy and once again we had the chance to see that disabled people in the water can improve their well-being.
