I have mild spastic Cerebral palsy diplegia
Hi, my name is Alice, i'm 27 years old, i'm from Denmark, i have mild spastic Cerebral palsy diplegia, and this is my first dive ever. It means a lot to me to haven gotten this opportunity from DDI to dive. It means a lot to have a feeling that there something you can master...and conquer:) The weightlessness it also an incredible feeling and i can feel my legs getting a good work out under water, that i wouldn't have gotten otherwise - because you can stay under for longer than normally, and therefore you also have to work harder and longer, but in a fun way. Anders was an incredible instructor, very patient and fun. He gave the impression of being very capeable and therefore made me feel completely safe. I loved it so much that i'm contemplating whether i should be an instructor myself, sometime in the near future. I'll definitely look into it. So thank you so much DDI for giving me this opportunity and for making ME feel very capeable. I have a feeling we'll be seeing each other again soon :) - Alice
Change of board members in the DDI Board - April 2013
At the beginning of this month Jon Linde, Board member of the DDI Foundation, has offered his seat in the Board of DDI Foundation. Jon will continue supporting DDI’s cause, but is stepping down from his current position. The DDI Board is grateful for Jon’s support of the past years and wishes to thank him for his work and good luck in his future endeavors.
Anders Orpana (DDI Representative of Norway) has been asked to take the vacant seat in the DDI Board and has accepted this position. We welcome Anders and thank him for accepting. Good luck, Anders.
Diving freedom and the power of Nitrox
I was contacted by Henry Vivet, from France, in 2011 about diving in Malta, he informed me that he had a medical by his physician that allowed him to go to 20m, but he was not certified. He told me that he suffered from a disability. The correct name of the disease is a problem since the doctors haven't found what it is yet. Let's say it's a neurological disease causing problem to the legs and with high sensibility to coldness and fatigue, which meant he could only complete one dive per day every other day and he could not start before 10:30am due to the extreme fatigue he suffered from before, during and after diving after previous experience.
